Chrysler By The Decade
The 1990's
Through the late 1980's and early 1990's Chrysler accelerated its move into international markets, focusing on Latin America and Asia/Pacific regions, with a recent emphasis on selling vehicle in Japan and other right-hand-drive markets. In 1991, Chrysler sold its equity stake in Japan's Mitsubishi.
In 1990 the first group of employees moved into the Chrysler Technology Center. In 1995, Chrysler finally closed its headquarters (FC) in Highland park and moved fully into the CTC.
The early and middle 1990's saw a series of triumphs that hardly anyone would have predicted just a few years earlier - the creation of Grand Cherokee at Jeep, the design of Viper and Ram pickup by Dodge and the introduction of the revolutionary "Cab Forward" design.
